Treetop Flyers – “It’s About Time”
I caught Treetop Flyers somewhat unexpectedly at SXSW 2010 and walked away impressed. This London folk-rock outfit (emphasis on the “rock”) exudes a positive energy on stage through solid instrumentation and the vocals that resembles a poppier version of Widespread Panic’s John Bell. It isn’t particularly mind blowing, but their music is very comfortable and enjoyable. I’m beginning to think the British are really starting to solidify their version of Americana as its own entity and Treetop Flyers fit right in with the Mumfords and gang. The band is set to release their debut LP early next year, which has the potential to break them into the indie mainstream around SXSW.
