Ra Ra Riot – “Beta Love”
Pairs Well With…Dirty Projectors, Freelance Whales, Vampire Weekend
Ra Ra Riot is one of those bands that brings a little bit of everything in their sound but still maintains a groove that is all their own. Upbeat pop vocals, synthesized melodies and even a healthy amount of violin all find their way throughout Ra Ra Riot’s two released LPs and will surely dictate the approach of their third, Beta Love, due in early 2013. Judging by early tracks that have found their way to the web so far, the band seems to be pushing even more towards a synthesized pop sound somewhat in the vein of Passion Pit. Not only is this a great decision given the changing trends in the indie music world, it actually suits Ra Ra Riot’s base sound wonderfully. Though one could argue that Ra Ra Riot has already hit mainstream success, Beta Love could prove to be a true breakout given these early listens. Ra Ra Riot will be wrapping up a nationwide tour at SXSW next year, so look for a triumphant celebration of sing-a-longs and handclaps this March in Austin.
