Ber - “Meant To Be” (w/ Charlie Oriain)
SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 8
Pairs Well With…Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, Olivia Rodrigo
Premiering just last year, Ber has released five singles so far and she’s already making a statement of creative, emotional bedroom pop. Softly delivering her vocals over a mix of organic and electronic instrumentation, Ber’s music is contemplative while still giving you a little bit of groove. Sweet ballads like “Bad For Me” and duet “Meant To Be” pair nicely with the dream-pop surges of “Feels So Easy” and the tropicalia rhythms of “I’m Not In Love”, balancing Ber’s emerging catalog while still bucketed in the soft rock/pop camp. This comforting setting lets Ber’s songwriting become the focal point of her music, using a straight-to-the-point style with a conversational tone. The Minnesota-based artist will showcase at Stephen F’s Bar on Saturday night for SXSW, a set to close out the festival in a pretty, softly passionate space. (Kevin McStravick)
