Nashville artist corook’s debut single “sims” is a bouncy and eclectic pop introduction, a single struggling with technology and reality, softening the lines between what’s controlled and the fragility of real life. A combination of bright synth pop and pop-rock hooks, corook maintains balance throughout “sims” that plays nicely against the paranoia and frustration playing out lyrically. It’s a tight three minutes of upbeat melodies and shows the Nashville-based artist’s grip on accessible, but indie-minded songwriting.
