Cure For Paranoia - “Dolla Dolla Bill Y’all”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…THEESatisfaction, Phony Ppl, Shabazz Palaces

Dallas hip hop trio Cure For Paranoia continue to evolve their jazzy, psych-rap sound on BAMN, the band’s first full-length and the most pop-oriented collection in their catalog. Woozy and chill, BAMN’s beats exude the ‘live’ feel that defines Cure For Paranoia’s sound, able to flip to intense club beats like on “Navajo Uzamaki” and Southern trap banger “Dolla Dolla Bill Y’all”. Classic indie rap and R&B informs Cure For Paranoia’s music as well, showcasing the band’s ability to balance mainstream rap and experimental material with held-back ease. (Kevin McStravick)

2018 Review: Music kicked off in the early afternoon with local force Cure For Paranoia, a mix of hip hop, pop and dance delivered from a place of personality and creativity. A rapper, a singer and a pair of producers/DJs gave Cure For Paranoia a collaborative nature, original and connected even as their chameleon abilities built a layer of diversity song to song. Lyrics moving from party vibes to reflections on mental health allowed Cure For Paranoia to connect even as folks were getting their days started and set a perfect tone for the rest of the lineup.
