Elis Paprika has a twenty-year deep discography, so it’s difficult to pigeonhole the genre-hopping artist, but start with breezy indie/garage pop played through a psychedelic rock prism as a repeated anchor throughout her catalog. From post punk to Mexican folk to dream pop, Elis Paprika is able to successfully try on different musical shoes no matter the era. Bilingual songwriting melds with power-pop hooks in Paprika’s music, influenced by 80s & 90s palettes, then warped enough to fit whatever she genre-melt she’s going for. Her latest single is “Todo Se Está Cayendo”, a spacier effort than much of her past work and an exercise in patience within a full and robust sound. (Kevin McStravick)
