Enumclaw - “Save The Baby”

SXSW 2023 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…Disq, TV on the Radio, Dinosaur Jr.

Enumclaw’s 2022 debut Save The Baby carefully criss-crosses density and levity around indie/psych rock forms, a complex record that connects back to core garage-rock elements at the same time. There’s a yearning throughout Save The Baby, a place where the Tacoma-based band is able to take each guitar, synth, or bass line and maximize without sounding incessant. A little shoegaze, a little emo rock, there’s something for all ears while Enumclaw definitively sound like themselves. Save The Baby is a record worth listening to in full versus picking off a couple singles - the depth of the band’s sound is deceptive as they pick and move around different rock subgenres with such ease.
