Galvezton - “Screen Savior”
SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 1
Pairs Well With…Lord Huron, Fleet Foxes, The War on Drugs
Finding the place where indie rock and folk rock meet, Galvezton’s introductory singles are lush and breezy, full and moving. They are part of his upcoming record persevere, emotive songs that are notably well constructed for a debuting artist. Acoustic guitars and Americana instrumentation provide the backing of Galvezton’s sound, but instead of moving into alt-country territory, the Texas artist invites psychedelic rock tones to augment his natural musical core. The result is part dreamy and part grungy, like a dense collection of light sounds. It’s surprising how under-the-radar Galvezton is leading into the release of persevere given the accessibility of his early singles, but perhaps that will change as more are introduced to his hypnotic and endearing sound. Galvezton showcases at Saxon Pub Tuesday night presented by 3Sixty Degrees Inc. (Kevin McStravick)
