Pairs Well With…Spirit of the Beehive, Slowdive, The Are Gutting A Body Of Water

Shoegaze rock with direction, it’s notable how warm Glixen sound even when dealing with layers of feedback and guitar fuzz. By slowing down the tempo and playing in an airy, distant way, Glixen’s music sounds surprisingly natural. It’s like an inferred heaviness, floating, light elements instead grabbing the spotlight on Glixen’s debut EP She Only Said. The result feels part post-rock and part dream-pop, balancing with impact and grace. Slowcore as well, Glixen’s music is patient but not repetitive, crawling with bubbling intensity. It makes their sound layers unexpectedly emotional and Glixen are careful to not muddy the reverb that emboldens the droning melodies within. (Kevin McStravick)
