Grandbrothers - “White Nights”

SXSW 2024 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 7

Pairs Well With…Nils Frahm, John Cage, Gidge

A mix of ambient space and repeated trance phrases define Grandbrothers’ hypnotic work, dramatic slices of cinematic post-rock that bubble with deft patience. Combining a clean, grand-piano sound with synthesizers and electronic production, Grandbrothers marry classical tradition and futurist vibes with surprisingly accessible results. Rarely dissonant, instead the German duo let their melodies dance in tandem. It’s pretty, relaxing, and enticing all at once with a decent-size catalog to boot, four full-lengths since the band’s debut Dilation from 2015. (Kevin McStravick)
