Her Skin - “suitable”
SXSW 2023 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 3
Pairs Well With…First Aid Kit, Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling
While dreamy and airy, Her Skin carries heaviness in her songwriting, torn and reflective on latest full-length I started a garden. Softly delivered from indie folk and bedroom pop perspectives, Her Skin keeps things fairly minimal on I started a garden, finding a comfortable and personal space to deliver her wants and regrets. Once again heading to SXSW from Modna, Italy, Her Skin promises a melancholy set with small bursts of indie rock energy every few songs, one that could successfully delivered solo or with a low-key rock band in tow. 2022 Review: Slow, delicate, and heartbreaking, Her Skin’s music is a mood, somberly and softly delivered over her 2018 debut Find a Place to Sleep and more recent single “Bad Dates”. A whispered guitar line and gentle fingers on the keys provide most of the accompaniment in Her Skin’s music, Americana-based but coming closer emotionally to a bedroom folk-pop perspective. The Italian singer-songwriter strikes a consistent tone in her music, quietly piercing and a bit nostalgic, so expect whatever follows up Find a Place to Sleep to follow those same intentions given her heart-forward songwriting.
