Soft indie pop with moments of bite, Australian artist Ivoris is a naturally gifted songwriter both in terms of hooky melodies and clever storytelling. A little dance pop, a little R&B, and a little hip hop, Ivoris sounds fully comfortable on her debut EP My Messy Mind and across a string of catchy synth-pop singles since. Her music bounces and grooves, but there’s an airy nature in the way she softly lays melodies overhead. Softened positivity seems to be a theme in Ivoris’s songs, music that elicits a smile without going full-on hyperpop. There’s charm in her words and textures as well, going between understated, tinny vocals and spoken-work/rap delivery that all somehow sound warm in the end. (Kevin McStravick)
