Austin acoustic troubadour Jon Muq is a mightily voiced, new singer-songwriter, beautifully employing a rich, sweet tone. Originally from Uganda, Muq’s timbre is also unique from an indie folk perspective, a striking tone when combined with his gentle musical approach. While Jon Muq doesn’t have a proper single out yet (his debut is due something this spring), there are some live performances and cover songs that showcase his natural ability. Armed just with a softly strummed guitar, Muq lets blank space weigh as an instrument himself, an emotionally serious but charming performer. His originals have a sweet quality to then, classic melodies that play nicely to Muq’s piercing vocal strength.
