One thing that stands out in La Marimba’s music is the precision, every beat, melody, and hook hitting in just the right place as the Dominican artist explores rock, pop, and folk influences playing out within her unique blend. While pulling these disparate sounds together, La Marimba is able to keep her sound smooth and pop oriented. Her pace isn’t really slow nor fast, finding easy grooves that give her room to sonically paint. She released her debut EP Seré in 2019 and five singles since, enough to show range that moves from pensive to percussive-led tracks like “Suéltame” breaking expectations that any individual song can set. La Marimba showcases at Augustine Wednesday night for FAMA Collective alongside Tangowhiskyman, RUBIO, and mediopicky. (Kevin McStravick)
