Letting Up Despite Great Faults - “Corners Pressed”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 6

Pairs Well With…Deerhunter, Local Natives, DIIV

00s indie rock vets Letting Up Despite Great Faults find a way to somehow sound breezy and light under the cover of shoegaze fuzz, a trend continued on two early singles from upcoming 2022 record IV. “Gemini” is a pulsating rock number, but underneath look out for LUDGF’s sunny power-pop songwriting delivered with a dreamy whisper. Latest single “Corners Passed” lets their catchy side out front a bit more - it’s all an interesting evolution from the Austin band's synth-rock roots and makes IV an exciting prospect come this March. 2011 Review: an electronic rock band from Los Angeles with a really interesting sound.  Their sound in some way resembles The Postal Service with poppy beats laid on slower indie rock tunes, but Letting Up Despite Great Faults (LUDGF) has a bit of a grittier edge.  What’s interesting as well as how their live shows feature a standard rock lineup: bass, guitar, drums, keys, while the band has such an electronic driven sound on record.
