Los Aptos - “Tu Labial”

SXSW 2023 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 10

Pairs Well With…Junior H, Elsabon Armado, DannyLux

Acoustic trio Los Aptos perform some of the prettiest Mexican folk-pop you’ll hear today, delicate, authentic tunes aided by sweet harmonies. They are patiently shared across their three records and a slew of singles that have since drawn a large listener base. It’s impressive and telling how Los Aptos can connect with such a minimal sound, percussion-less, pensive bass and Latin jazz chords often providing the backing for their comforting music. While straightforward in approach, Los Aptos are worth catching for nailing such a pure sound, understanding that sweetness can carry as much weight as big, pop hooks. Los Aptos perform Thursday night at The Venue ATX for RUMBA by Cinq Music & mitú. (Kevin McStravick)
