Tender indie folks backs much of MAVICA’s music, but shades of lush electronic pop and bedroom rock accent her softly impactful numbers. MAVICA followed up here debut 2019 EP Gone with two-song release Send Me to the Water, further exploring ambient pop and quiet Americana forms on “No It’s Not” and “Ada Road”. Songs that combine light guitar work, minimal synth atmosphere, and a mix of autotune and natural vocals, MAVICA’s music can sound both haunting and welcoming all at once. The Spanish duo showcases on Friday night at HouseParty alongside fellow recommended artists SPEAK, GRLS, and Clarence James. (Kevin McStravick)
