Mike Dimes - “HOME”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 8

Pairs Well With…Denzel Curry, NLE Choppa, Roddy Ricch

There’s something infectious about Mike Dimes’ music. It could be his naturally bouncy and percussive flow, precise and on-beat, locked in rhythmically throughout his debut full-length DLOG. It could be Dimes’ fun, hooky beat choices that ride between deep trap and pop-rap hooks. It could be the Texas rapper’s Southern hip-hop energy and grime, boastful and reflective at once. It could be his rhythmic wordplay, sometimes serious and sometimes tongue-in-cheek across Dimes’ emerging catalog. Dimes is confident but not in your face, studied in hip hop but not trying to cop just one style. These tracks are consistently strong too - there’s a sense of hustle in Dimes’ music that makes him even more likable and funky cool, charm but from a battle-rap perspective. Latest single “HOME” is part of Dimes’ next project In Dimes We Trust, due sometime next next month.
