Pairs Well With…The 1975, Beach Weather, Flume

In another universe, milk.’s sound would be big-tent electro-pop given the catchy hooks that reside in their music, but the Dublin band take those themes in a different direction through understated performances and an overall muted effort. It’s such a smart decision given the sugary melodies that are gently offered on their two debut EPs (aptly titles 1, The EP and 2, The EP), making earworm verse/chorus sound downright comfortable, dreamy even. It’s a welcome addition for those who are looking for pop, but not too much pop, while delivered in a natural, ghostly cool. The Irish quartet are notably consistent across their early catalog, honing the same bright, warming indie-pop tone track to track and progressively mastering a unique and interesting lane.
