Moon Kissed - “Another Snow Day In Brooklyn”
SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 2
Pairs Well With…Wet Leg, Girlpool, Mitski
Moon Kissed is where classic soul and dream pop meet up, a sound both smooth and woozy across 2021 record I’ld Like to Tell You Something Important. It’s the NYC trio’s third full-length in three years, an upbeat collection with a melancholy swing. Indie-pop hooks drive their synth-assisted sound, transitioning the band’s R&B influences into more tripped-out modernism. The result is fun and more relatable than weird. Moon Kissed are surprisingly tight songwriters given their psych-pop song forms. It’s bubblegum pop that’s been personalized with pop-punk, indie rock, and anthemic pop tangents, maturely constructed by this quickly evolving unit. Moon Kissed already have two SXSW showcases lined up, Tuesday at The Iron Bear and Wednesday at Hotel Vegas Patio alongside eclectic rock bands Weakened Friends, We Were Promised Jetpacks, and Ringo Deathstarr.
