Alt-country and groovy indie rock meld in Neighbor Lady’s music, gently rolling and soaked in a thin layer of grit. The Atlanta band debuted a full-length in 2018 and Maybe Later is a consistent serving of Western vibes, garage pop, and bedroom rock across its seven tracks. A little on the quicker side of mid-tempo, Neighbor Lady’s paced approach gives their songs a loose, psychedelic edge while still anchored to Americana roots. It’s melancholy but driving, hiding rock hooks under a moody, barroom atmosphere. It has been a few years since Neighbor Lady has released any music, so expect their SXSW appearance to feature new songs to build on this strong start. (Kevin McStravick)
