A real musical chameleon at this point in her career, PRONOUN can give you a power-pop gem, a stark ballad, or experimental rock tones depending on what track you select that follow her last full-length, 2019’s i’ll show you stronger. From sociological to deeply personal, PRONOUN’s songwriting is to-the-point, often biting in tone. She’ll match that with accessible, soft-pop accompaniment in a way that creates balance. The Brooklyn artist shared a new EP in 2021 and OMG I MADE IT is her most pop-embracing collection, fearlessly leaning into catchiness and leaving vulnerability in the rearview. Catch PRONOUN showcasing at The Iron Bear Friday night for Big Picture Media, playing in between recommended artists Winona Fighter and LUNA AURA. (Kevin McStravick)
2018 Review: She creates a haunting sound with strong vocals layered among intricate guitar and synthetic beats. Her lyrical and vocal vulnerability is where her music really hits home. The title of her debut EP, “there’s no one new around you,” was appropriated from what Tinder apparently tells you when you’ve done too much swiping left. She says the songs, including “a million other things,” and “just cuz you can’t,” where born of a painful breakup. She took to the studio and recorded the tracks herself and chose her band name to reflect her solitary endeavor to work through the aftermath of this relationship.
