Robby Hecht - “Someone to Dance With”

SXSW 2024 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 7

Pairs Well With…John Hiatt, The Milk Carton Kids, James Taylor

An acoustic troubadour molded out of a classic frame, Robby Hecht often records and performs solo acoustic, telling tales of love and regret across records reaching back to 2008’s Late Last Night. Not a Number is Hecht’s latest, set for release this spring and he has already shared a few singles that follow his mix of tender and clever songwriting. His words are softly presented but find moments of bite, nicely matched with the easy, emotive playing that often accompanies his ballads. On the other side, “Old Radio” sounds like Dire-Straits-era rock, both soft and full and the closest Hecht will get to power pop across his catalog. (Kevin McStravick)
