SXSW 2023 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 9

Pairs Well With…Earthgang, Kota the Friend, Injury Reserve

One immediate takeaway from Snotty Nose Rez Kids’ latest record I’M GOOD, HBU? is their efficiency, crafting an energetic, lyrically dense statement over the course of six proper tracks under twenty-three minutes. That lean approach is a perfect fit for the Canadian rap duo, crafting tight bangers that could roll alongside any pop hip-hop hits. While accessible and exciting, Snotty Nose Rez Kids will appeal to old-school hip-hop heads through their wordplay and reverential flows while merging classic rap and trap beats underneath. They balance serious and fun with a studied grip - Snotty Nose Rez Kids are underrated rap artists rolling through the ‘can’t miss’ era of their careers. (Kevin McStravick)

2022 Review: Snotty Nose Rez Kids shared their fourth record last year and Life After is a strong continuation of the duo’s pop-oriented, psych-rap hip hop. It’s their most rap-filled record, bringing lyricism forward and showing off the band’s precise, quick vocal skills. Classic NYC rap, trap, and Southern hip hop influences can found in SNRK’s sound - Life After is a record that has a global view in the way it incorporates all these forms and applies them to their distinct, Indigenous lens. It’s an excitable, club-leaning album that should yield an affirming set at SXSW 2022.
