Altre Di B - “It’s A Cloudy Day In San Francisco”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…TV on the Radio, Tokyo Police Club, Vampire Weekend

Altre Di B released just one single in 2019, the bright and jangly “It’s A Cloudy Day In San Francisco”, a logical progression of the band’s generally upbeat sound. It’s among the breezier tracks in Altre Di B’s multilingual catalog, pulling down some of their pop walls to reveal a band comfortable with itself and is a good signpost for wherever the Italian band decides to head next. 2018 Review: Altre di B’s sound though at times familiar, is ultimately something unique.  They blend punk energy into indie rock that alternates raw, aggressive guitars with cheeky spoken lyrics pushed forward by percussion and synth. Sometimes the lead singer goes a little crazy on his xylophone.  It works more often than not, although their songs tend to over-repeat lines, which is great when the hooks are memorable but a bit grating on the weaker ones.
