Caleb Elliott - “Burns Like Hell”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 2

Pairs Well With…Sturgill Simpson, Dylan LeBlanc, Lord Huron

Caleb Elliott takes what could be a gentle folk sound and turns it into a cinematic, soft soul atmosphere on 2019 debut full-length Forever to Fade, a sweet, alt country vibe throughout the consistent effort. Breezy acoustic rock is emboldened with an abundance of strings and lush production, giving off a fuller statement while staying in a tight pocket throughout. It’s a constantly pretty, stirring sound even recalling classic R&B forms at times, notably mature for a debut and a rich listen front to back. (Kevin McStravick)
