Finding space between alt-country and dreamy indie rock, Austin’s daphne tunes performs in lush, slightly psychedelic space on his latest EP Volume 2. There’s a little bit of pop bounce in songs like “Thinkin on a Mem”, but daphne tunes’ instincts often bring his music to a more relaxed, yet freewheeling destination traveled from a relatively tight sonic origin. Gentle breezes and classic rock influences inform other parts of Volume 2, finding pockets of groove amid the light air where daphne tunes’ nonchalant rock rests. It’s a collaborative record as well - daphne tunes includes members of Why Bonnie, Lomelda, and Hovvdy as both a recording and touring unit. (Kevin McStravick)
