Har Mar Superstar - “Don’t You Go Forgetting About Me Now”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 8

Pairs Well With…Bright Light Social Hour, Diane Coffee, St Paul and the Broken Bones

The ever-so-charming Har Mar Superstar released his first single this month since 2017 EP Personal Boy, a track written in conjunction with NPR’s Song Confessional series turning others’ stories into an original song. “Don’t You Go Forgetting About Me Now” is a story of strippers, hook-ups, and Valentine’s Day, but delivered with a sweet, reminiscing croon with some tropicalia twists. It’s a perfect space for Har Mar, who is also showcasing at SXSW as part of new-wave pop duo Heart Bones, and a nice surprise from the talented, often tongue-in-cheek artist. (Kevin McStravick)

2016 Review: 2013’s Bye Bye 17 and the catchy lead single, Lady You Shot Me, brought Sean Tillmann’s Har Mar Superstar alter ego a larger audience. The album also showed a renewed focus on songwriting and polished production. Har Mar Superstar’s songs on Bye Bye 17 are an updated take on classic soul and doo-wop songs. Har Mar’s golden vocals and imaginative songwriting set him apart from other artists that have a heavy vintage influence to their sound.

2014 Review: Har Mar Superstar is one interesting dude. From his R&B releases as Har Mar Superstar to early indie rock releases as Sean Na-Na he has remained an inimitable force in music. His most recent album Bye Bye 17 featuring the catchy as hell single Lady, You Shot Me is his most soulful release to date. The album finds him putting his unique spin on classic R&B and it’s one of last year’s most enjoyable albums to sing along to. He’s always a fun act to see live, he’s known for his stage antics that include stripping down to his skivvies.
