Hayfitz - “Daylight”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 1

Pairs Well With…Didirri, Nick Drake, Bon Iver

Soft and atmospheric, Hayfitz’s approach to indie folk draws as much influence from ambient pop/rock as traditional Americana, sharing a quiet, introspective spirit on his two debut tracks “Pinpoint” and recently released “Daylight”. Accompanying Hatfitz’s airy, whisper-like vocals and acoustic guitar picking are dreamy soundscapes, applying some new-age delicacy to the Brooklyn artist’s songwriting. “Daylight” even builds into some grand rock orchestration within the song’s coda, a welcome switch from Hayfitz’s ultra-tender home base and a sign that there’s more to his music than just a lonely, spacious backbone.
