Built of rich country/Western tones, Jordan Moser’s 2019 debut Long Night is a quieter, subtle take on the genre, keeping time in a dreamy state in lieu of a full, traditionalist angle. The Texas singer-songwriter created a consistent, lonely sound on Long Night, using empty space in addition to soulful, steady instrumentation to convey the lullaby vibe that informs Moser’s sweetly regretful songwriting. While incorporating space, Moser prevents his music from becoming boring with his emotive, lightly gritty vocal adding depth to Moser’s relatively minimal approach. (Kevin McStravick)
