Knucks - “Wedding Rings”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 6

Pairs Well With…Novelist, Wretch 32, Skepta

London rapper Knucks finds the chillest corners of grime rap, an artist as ingrained in classic 90s/00s hip hop as contemporary UK hip hop modes. His debut record is 2019’s NRG 105, a cohesive effort that has Knucks rapping over cooled out and throwback beats while always keeping within a tight, cool pocket. His laid back flow gives his tracks the feel of downtempo grooves, but his talented writing and flow still stand out with comfortable appeal. Knucks succeeds at being both unique in today’s soundscape, but sounding completely familiar at the same time. (Kevin McStravick)
