Riders Against the Storm - “Black Girl Payday”
SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 3
Pairs Well With…Earthgang, Megan Thee Stallion, Shabazz Palaces
Austin hip hop duo and SXSW regulars Riders Against the Storm had one of the busiest years of their career in 2019, releasing their debut full-length See Me, a combination of originals and remixes from producer Ayuma, in addition to singles like recent banger “Black Girl Payday”. Riders Against the Storm stand out for their sharp, inventive production, fun, psychedelic rap flows, and alternative R&B/hip hop fusion, a group that has really grown into itself over their decade-plus career. 2016 Review: Combing hip hop, R&B and throwback pop, Austin duo Riders Against the Storm have fun with the music, but uses the platform for serious lyricism. The vocalist-rapper back and forth that both artists are able to employ gives Riders Against the Storm extra depth that have earned them a great local reputation.
