Power pop and punk rock energy powers Sammi Lanzetta’s debut full-length Ceiling Mirror, a tight but emotive collection of tracks steeped in classic indie and grunge rock tones. That’s put against Lanzetta’s bedroom-pop-leaning songwriting, personal and heartfelt refections laid against bitchin’ guitar riffs. Bouncing between moody and bright atmospheres, Ceiling Mirror provides depth among rock hooks and feels more DIY than modern-rock shiny. Lastly, the Richmond, Virginia-based artist adds some hints of riot grrrl crunch to songs like “Nude Hugs, Love Keith” and “Snake Song”, giving a balanced link of rambunctiousness to her far-reaching sound.
