The Brother Brothers - “Summer Rain”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…The Milk Carton Kids, Rayland Baxter, The Barr Brothers

The Brother Brothers followed up their 2018 debut Some People I Know with a couple of singles last year, expectedly continuing their pastoral acoustic folk sound with the upmost patience and tenderness. The Brooklyn-based duo of course highlight their splendid, natural harmonies on both “Siren Song” and “Summer Rain”, a sound that can’t be replicated beyond the identical twin’s genetically matched vocal tones. 2019 Review: Acoustic guitars and ultra-fluid harmonies mark The Brother Brothers’ sound, prettily shared across their natural, floating debut full-length Some People I Know. Expertly using those weapons in a quiet, emotive fashion, the Brooklyn duo tread on alt country and Americana ground on this effort, rotating between full-band tracks and reverent tracks with a clear spotlight on the identical twins’ voices. The throwback modes of Some People I Know is a smart arena to hear the rare sound of true duplicity.
