The Wants - “Fear My Society”

Brooklyn newcomers The Wants perform a wide tapestry of post-punk noise-scapes on a trio of introductory singles, all of which come from the band’s debut record Container. Latest track “The Motor” is as driving and percussively tense as the title infers, a jam bodied by a tight guitar riff, synth sound layers, and some spoken-word car-race lyrics. Counter that with the cooled, relatively melancholy pace of new wave track “Fear My Society” and dense burner “Clearly a Crisis”, it becomes clear that The Wants are a band of range within their dark, heady version of indie rock.
