Vs Colour - “All or Enough”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 2

Pairs Well With…The Dirty Projectors, The 1975, The Flaming Lips

Covering a plane that ranges from chillwave R&B to anthemic, shoegaze alt-rock, Vs Colour takes psych-rock to strange and engaging places on 2019 full-length Entitled. While tripped out as a whole, Vs Colour ground their music in new-wave stylings and a crooning vocal tone, a naturally rich, yet funky, vibe that finds space for upside-down party tracks (“Out of My Mind”) and spacey synth jams (“Nooboo”) in their left-of-center, fusion rock sound. While striking garage pop/rock chords throughout Entitled, the LA-based quartet are notably complex and experimental in their songwriting, a mix of weird and fun that twists and turns within a subtly controlled soundscape.
