The Heavy Hours - “Take My Heart (I’ll Take Yours Too)”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With…Delta Spirit, Lord Huron, Kings of Leon

The Heavy Hours’ music is built off rock and alt-country instrumentation, but these are some damn good straight-pop songs stemming from the Cincinnati band’s hook-heavy songwriting. Handclaps and sing-a-longs emit from The Heavy Hours’ debut 2021 EP Wildfire and more recent single “Take My Heart (I’ll Take Yours Too)”, classic rock nicely informing the band’s catchy, ramblin’ sound. Americana rooted yet grown from multiples eras of rock and roll, The Heavy Hours are efficient songwriters who understand the power of a big, life-affirming chorus. All this is a preface to The Heavy Hours’ upcoming record Gardens - if this steak continues, they could a be a much more recognizable act given the memorable nature of these early singles.
