Bendigo Fletcher - “Evergreen”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 6

Pairs Well With…Band of Horses, The Head & The Heart, Hiss Golden Messenger

Folk rock band Bandigo Fletcher released their third full-length Fits of Laughter in 2021, a record that stands out for its fullness in an otherwise soft and minimal genre. The Louisville artists’ foundation of alt country and cool rock tones still play a key part throughout Fits of Laughter, but its the new roads of chillwave R&B (“Birding”), garage power pop (“Evergreen”), and dream pop (“Retail Lord”) that take this beyond another strong addition to the indie folk canon. Throughout all these excursions is Bendigo Fletcher’s delicate touch, not forgetting the power of song with their timeless approach to writing. Add in tight and cohesive musicianship - Bendigo Fletcher have all parts in the right place across the record’s eight tracks. Folk rock doesn’t have to be all stomp and holler and looking forward to seeing how Bendigo Fletcher continues pushing the genre forward inch by inch. (Kevin McStravick)
