Ferris & Sylvester – “Superhuman”

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 8; Popularity Index: 5

Pairs Well With… Of Monsters and Men, George Ezra, Black Keys

The prolific Ferris & Sylvester will release their first full album, Superhuman, on March 11th just in time for their third SXSW. While featuring all new songs, look for Ferris & Sylvester to continue their mix of Americana influenced ballads along with harder, blues-based rockers. Only two singles have been released so far. The title track, “Superhuman” rocks out hard with guitar riffs worthy of the Black Keys. Narrating an impending breakup, the song makes good use of alternating guy/girl vocals that are a signature of the band. The second single, “Golden”, starts as a ballad, but gains energy with funky synth line in the chorus.  As a special treat, we are hoping that Ferris & Sylvester’s SXSW sets include their excellent cover of the Joe Cocker classic, “With a Little Help From My Friends.” (David Zlotnick)

2020 Review: Ferris & Sylvester followed up their debut EP Made in Streatham with a string of 2019 growing singles, mixing their signature Americana ballads with actual bangers like catalog highlight “I Dare You”. A thick electric guitar riff intersects Ferris & Sylvester’s acoustic pastures with confidence and grit, evolving their sound into a yearning stomp erupting with passion. Here’s to Ferris & Sylvester continuing to turn it up on their expected 2020 release.
