Bright and driving, FUR’s debut full-length When You Walk Away is a catchy collection of UK rock and roll fuzzily influenced by 60s/70s forefathers. Moving between bubbly melodies and alt-rock riffs, FUR are noticeably tight and focused on When You Walk Away, embedding their songs in lo-fi production while performing with power-pop precision. This style sands down their sound nicely, making hooks more comfortable, clouds passing through an otherwise sunny day. That said, this music is fun, stylized with classic pop songwriting mixed with the barroom ramble setting that FUR represent. The threads from 70s to 00s to current day in FUR’s music provide an interesting back and forth along the number line that enhances and informs their infectious record. (Kevin McStravick)
