Neo soul R&B melodies flow smoothly in Kayan’s music, eased synth-pop laying foundation for the strongly voiced Indian artist. Kayan’s introductory singles since debuting in 2020 are a consistently cool collection of low-key jams bridging 90s pop and internal, contemporary bedroom soul. She’s tends to be understated in her approach, falling within the electronic pop production of her music rather than putting the spotlight just on her vocals. Latest single “On My Own” introduces some hip hop vibes into her otherwise laid-back sound, a vibe that gives Kayan’s music some extra bounce and direction as she continues to hone her infectious, soulful sound.
