Grimy punk rock mixed with upbeat pop, LUNA AURA’s new EP THE FICTION is a blast of bubbling energy with enough edge to keep things slightly off kilter. Big guitar and vocal riffs highlight LUNA AURA’s punchy tracks, a mix of 90s grunge and electro-pop crisscrossing underneath their main melodies. The Nashville-based artist’s third EP, THE FICTION sounds noticeably tight and full, heading into industrial-rock territory at its hardest. That said, LUNA AURA is a pop artist primarily, hooks as bedrocks consistently placed across THE FICTION’s five tracks. Everything here sounds huge, a feature that should make for a killer SXSW set at The Iron Bear Friday night. (Kevin McStravick)
