Adding a Celtic string melody to traditional alt country, Texas band RF Shannon deliver a sharp and pretty sound on their latest single “Dublin, Texas”. It’s their first release since 2019’s Rain On Dust, a record that twists Americana tones with some psych-rock haze, an often ghostly sound that can be both welcoming and distant at once. Dreamy, slow ballads, electric and acoustic alike, give Rain On Dust and the rest of RF Shannon’s catalog a gentle weight, emotional without being overbearing. Through that however, RF Shannon are focused on the root of song, crafting tomes that feel timeless, wafting through the open air of a quiet Texas town. (Kevin McStravick)
