Sadurn - “Snake"

SXSW 2022 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 2

Pairs Well With…Big Thief, Erin Rae, Waxahatchee

Philly artist Saturn just released the first track from her upcoming debut full-length Radiator and “Snake” is an impressive introduction in the vein of bedroom folk driven Americana, a moving song built on subtle rock dynamics and Saturn’s naturally rich, low vocals. They sings with melancholy soul, expressive in a way that sounds like its on the edge of breaking down. Sadurn also has a couple EPs from 2019 that are more lo fi and loose, so it sounds like the heart-touching artist is going for something clearer and more mature that should add Saturn to the list of artists connecting to a wider audience with a similarly tender sound. Sadurn showcases Wednesday night for Run for Cover Records at The Velveeta Room with fellow recommended acts Mini Trees, Runnner, and Sun June. (Kevin McStravick)
