AHI’s rich and gritty voice stands out on 2018 sophomore record In Our Time, performing over alt-country rhythms and indie folk melodies with natural vision and spirit. His songwriting leans between traditional country and acoustic pop/rock movements, pretty songs overflowing with soul. While AHI’s voice maximizes over musically quiet ballads, there are some rambles on In Our Time like sing-a-long pop number “Straight Ahead” and “We Want Enough”. The authenticity in the Canadian singer-songwriter’s tone makes his poppier side more real than manufactured, a strong character that should make for a moving SXSW set. (Kevin McStravick)
