There’s instinctual joy in almost monday’s upbeat synth-pop sound, an emerging San Diego trio that has gone big with their first two singles of updated disco funk. “Broken people” is the groovier of the two, a sing-a-long anthem of shiny melodies and bouncing bass lines, a burst of pop music immediately ready for mainstream play. Last week, almost monday followed up with “parking lot view”, a track that feels tongue-in-cheek in its cheesy brightness and adds some hip hop vocals that’s a natural fit into the newcomers’ vibrant sound.
