BONES UK - “Pretty Waste”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 7

Pairs Well With…Sleigh Bells, The Runaways, Garbage

It’s interesting to track the growth of BONES UK finally leading to their debut full-length in 2019, a booming industrial rock record that sounds huge from wire to wire. There are still hard, blues rock riffs that make their way into BONES UK’s sound, but it’s the dark, electronic rock percussion and melodies that drive these tracks forward like a futuristic steam engine. Their music is dense and doesn’t quit, surprisingly heady given the modern-rock edge that captures their exciting, pulsing sound. (Kevin McStravick)

2018 Review: The women of BONES are fierce, talented, and they have a message – girls can play guitars.  Rosie Bones and Carmen Vandenbert lay down their personal blend of aggressive blues guitar licks over modern rhythms.  Their spirited and raucous show could be a highlight performance this year.  And BONES is coming with some serious street cred.  Their music has already been used on “Orange is the New Black,” “Transparent,” and according to their Facebook page, in a Victoria Secret ad.  Jeff Beck also enlisted the pair to help him write and record Loud Hailer, and they joined him on the subsequent tour.
