David Dondero - “Easy Chair”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 9; Popularity Index: 6

Pairs Well With…The Mountain Goats, Bright Eyes, The Moldy Peaches

It’s wild how under the radar David Dondero has flow over the two decades, one of the strongest raw, modern folk artists actively performing today. His latest The Filter Bubble Blues is no exception - Dondero’s tenth full-length is personal and political, cleverly written and notably biting in its softly delivered tone. An acoustic guitar and some light instrumentation holds most of the backing of The Filter Bubble Blues, appropriately putting the spotlight on Dondero’s songwriting throughout. (Kevin McStravick)

2011 Review: an indie rock artist and singer songwriter from Seattle.  David Dondero is a poet, weaving Dylan-like tomes into a modern timeframe and rock mentality.  Vocally, David has a beautiful voice that thrives on its wobbly and edgy features.  As a comparison, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes has aptly labeled David Dondero as a big influence on his own vocal stylings.  The artists have a very similar delivery.  Musically, David’s songs range from slowed down folk weavings to some heavier and grungier material.
