Field Medic - “used 2 be a romantic”

SXSW 2020 - OEB Score: 7; Popularity Index: 7

Pairs Well With…Phosphorescent, Father John Misty, Whitney

Falling between traditional Americana and contemporary freak folk, Field Medic shares a sound both pleasant and gritted with rock and roll on his latest full-length fade into the dawn. His back-porch, DIY vibe is welcoming and personal, a space to let his clever songwriting thrive. Using conversational and some tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Field Medic harkens back to classic folk material, but filtered through his cooled, bedroom-rock songwriting. His voice is a laid-back drawl, understated but effective in moments pained and reflective. Fade into the dawn is a sad record both tonally and musically, a mix of spare ballads and mid-tempo ramblers recorded with purposeful distance in mind. (Kevin McStravick)
