Hannah Williams & The Affirmations nail their throwback soul sound on the band’s third record 50 Foot Woman, an album that sounds like it was recorded in a smoky, late 60s studio. Grooving guitars and bass, rich horn lines, and Williams’ booming voice make up their blues-infused music, a fine balance of gritty and smooth. Their music is ultimately fun, joyful, and surely pops live - the UK revivalists will fit right in with a Texas crowd ready to boogie under a timeless sun. (Kevin McStravick)
